{Shanghai} B Real, yummy vietnamese sandwich

Sometimes I just don't want to eat rice for lunch.

We were walking on Fumin road and found out this tiny vietnamese shop which seems to be a branch of Real Pho on the same street.

They basically only sells sandwiches. But it seems that they are doing also some Pho too.

There are only 8 seats there.

20130510_134047

You can order simply a sandwich or a set which includes a sandwich of your choice, a salad and a drink for 60RMB.

So, yes it's quite pricy for a sandwich. But they are good !

W6: Stewed pork and egg: Really yummy ! don't take it if you are on diet. The porc is fatty !!

Closer look.

Regular sandwich prices are from 45 to 55RMB (I think!)

I like it. It's clean, fresh, tasty. I will come back when I'll miss some exotic sandwich !

{Shanghai} Flat white, coffee & cookies~

Flat White is a simple and original store in Wulumuqi road. You do not enter a store, you buy your coffee through a window !

Just by curiousity, I bought their cookies since I don't drink coffee.

I choose the coconut cookies. It's a pack for 22RMB.

IMG_20130507_162414

I like hard cookies. The flavor is not bad. Not really impressed by it. Maybe I need to try another flavour. But it won't be soon :)

FYI They also sell cakes !

{Shanghai} Manne & Santé, lovely café-restaurant

On a lovely Sunday, I got to meet up with friends at Manne & Santé.

It's a bit lost in a small street. But the restaurant is so lovely.

Downstairs they have a bakery where you can buy their delicious breads and pastries !!

Upstairs you will find their café-restaurant.

It's a French-Italian style restaurant. The service (only the boss and 1 employee) is very nice. But a bit slow when it comes to food. I guess their kitchen is not big and doesn't have a lot of staff.

IMG_20130224_122645

Sandwich pâté de foie et tomates: S. said it was tasty. Actually, it's the first time I get to see some pâté de foie outside of French restaurants.

IMG_20130224_122717

Fresh pear juice:Nice for starting the lunch

IMG_20130224_131359

Capricciosa pizza: My pizza arrived last. I was sooo hungry. The pizza was chewy. Not really used to non crunchy pizza.

But it was qute good.

IMG_20130224_135307

Millefeuilles aux fraises: DELICIOUUUUS !! The first Millefeuille I got in Shanghai. And its worth any good Millefeuille in Paris !! It was crispy, the vanilla cream was not too sweet, and the strawberries were sooo fresh and sweet.

I'd return just for that !!

IMG_20130224_135329

Yum Yum !!

A big thanks to the boss who protected us against an angry customer. We were a bit too happy and laughed too much. The customer got angry and left... 对不起老板 ! ><

It's a nice restaurant and also a lovely place to have a coffee too !

{Paris} Le Sauvage, BCBG, polite and clean service

Another restaurant found by M.

After some shopping on the Champs Elisées, we walked to Le Sauvage.

As recommended on the magazine, we booked in advance.

When we arrived (1pm), all the tables were full. I thought that it was quite surprising. The restaurant is not cheap especially for lunch. But we noticed that most of the customers were, old customers or businessmen.

The service is really warm. The blond lady (the boss) is always here to help you. The waiters are also very polite.

Raviolis:I didn't taste it. But M. said it was really fresh

IMG_20121210_131518

Homemade smoked salmon: This is a OMG for me ! I loved it !! I wanted to eat more !!! The smoked salmon was so good. Not too smoked, not too salty. And the cream... a perfect starter

IMG_20121210_133006

Meat and purée: well, next time I would choose something else. I forgot the name of the meat. But I remember it was wild animal. The taste was too strong for me... but I ended quite full.

As I said, Le Sauvage doesn't come cheap. I forgot the prices but I think with drinks we paid quite a lot.

Some websites say around 39€/pers. I think it's pretty much that. So it's not for an everyday lunch...

{Paris} Lunch at the Musée d'Orsay

Finally I had the time to see the Musée d'Orsay ! And I was not disappointed.

For those who are visiting Paris, have a stop there ! It's an amazing railway station with nice exhibitions.

Right after visiting, we were a bit hungry. We went upstairs to have a look at the restaurant.

It was 2pm, they had seats: in the end we had lunch there.

I love the old French style atmosphere. Really fancy.

The food was just Ok, nothing really memorable. If you can get a seat near the windows, the view is amazing !!

{Paris} Blend Hamburger Gourmet

M. found Blend Hamburger in a magazine and wanted to try it out.

In a rainy afternoon, around 2 or 3pm we finally arrived there. It was still super crowded.

The place is really small. You will have to share your table with other people. It's part of the experience there.

20121213_144742

The service is speedy but warm and welcoming.

IMG_20121213_142534

Lunch set: Burger+French fries+drink (15€): The burger was realy soft ! the only thing is the meat which is easy to break apart. But it tasted quite good.

But I'm not sure it's the best burger I've ever eaten.

On the contrary, M. really liked it. Because this burger is not heavy at all !

The fries were good too.

In Blend, everything is homemade ! So extra fresh.

{Shanghai} Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake, wait 40min-1hour to get it !

Ok, there was something I really didn't understand when I saw it. In Jiu Guang B1, in the food court, a new Japanese shop opened selling cheesecake.

Just right after that, it was the fever to buy one of them ! From 10am 'til 10pm people queue all the day to get the precious cheesecake ! Buy by one or 2 and even more !

Is it THAT good ?? So, I decided to queue and to taste it !

Just to let you know, to bake this cake, it needs 40min cooking ! So if you are unlucky, you have to wait more than that even if they have 3 ovens !

Every oven can bake 16 cakes.

At night at 8pm, I went to queue. I was quite 'lucky' because just 20 people in front of me YAY !!

After the 2nd batch, I could get mine in the 3rd batch but inextremis ! I waited 20min...lucky huh ! the people (a looooot!!!) after me had to wait for another 40min and even more!

Here is the precious :

IMG_20130309_195554

Cute Uncle Tetsu

IMG_20130309_195649

On the cake too !

IMG_20130309_195759

The verdict: I tried when hot and the day after:

It's good ! It's fluffy, very airy, full of flavor.

Hot, it tastes too much egg. But it was fine.

Cold the next day: much tastier than the day before. Just like all the cheesecake NY one or this kind of cheesecake, the next day after baking is the best !

Now, to wait all that time just eat it... I think people are either like me (seeing all this commotion for a cake...you wanna try right ?) or just have nothing to do ! all these ayi queueing and buying so many cakes... I don't get it.

Or maybe because it's good and not too expensive ? 38RMB/cake

But I was thinking. Chinese people bake kind of similar cakes too. Very fluffy like this one. It could be another reason...

Well, if you have time:

{Shanghai} Café Dan, lovely !

Aaah I wanted to try this café for soo long !!

Finally the time has come ! Enjoying our time in Tianzifang, we decided to go to Dan's café. A small and cute japanese café.

20121024_131130

20121024_131107

Just to let you know, it's always crowed there ! we came around 2 or 3pm to eat. All the tables were full. We had to wait a bit.

I didn't take the pictures of the interior, but it was really cute and cosy !

The café's motto is to make good quality food. That's mean, having something there doesn't come cheap. But as all the customers there, I definitely think it's worth !

Here is what we had:

IMG_20130212_151745

Matcha ice latte and lemonade

In Café Dan, you can choose a meal itself or a menu:

The menu comes with a cup of coffee, a miso soup (with clams in it !) and a small vegetable bowl. The rice is an organic one. Delicious !

IMG_20130212_152443

Fish Menu (?): I didn't have the chance to try it, but it was said to be good

IMG_20130212_152500

Japanese Hambagu: it was soo soft. Tasty yum !!

IMG_20130212_152521

Marinated squid and vegetable sautée: We loved the marinated squid ! Loved it so much that we ordered another one ! haha ! The vegetable sautée was crunchy ! yummy !

IMG_20130212_152539

Sashimi bowl: It looked quite small. But F. said it was satisfaying (he's quite picky when it comes to sushi or sashimi)

IMG_20130212_153007

Chicken teriyaki: I loved it. The texture was right and the taste too !

IMG_20130212_160532

Matcha cake: I expected it to be super heavy. But it was so light ! not too sweet and not bland. I recommend !

IMG_20130212_160551

Cheese cake: hum it was ok. I think the matcha one was good already hehe !

I will definitely go back !

{Shanghai} The Chowhaus

During a warm afternoon, we went on a walk and arrived near Xujiahui. Precisely near Jiaotong University.

We found out the Chowhaus lounge and decided at 2pm to have lunch.

The interior is quite big and pretty cosy. It's relaxing since nobody was there.

On the menu, an only lunch set at around 70RMB (I just remember it was pretty cheap for the whole thing).

The Chowhaus offers different kind of food: korean, thai, western, chinese...

20121128_140901

IMG_20121128_143542

The menu includes a cup or tea or coffee (but no refill)

IMG_20121128_141352

Starters: the menu includes an appertizer, a soup and a salad.

You can choose between 2 or 3 choices.

IMG_20121128_141803

Mozzarella and tomatoes: Well, the mozzarella was something you can buy on supermarket and the tomatoes were quite blend.

IMG_20121128_142429

Tomyamkun soup: hum...too much mushrooms (yes mushrooms) it was too oily and the sourness was a bit weird. The seafood, well, you know it's frozen seafood

IMG_20121128_143853

Caesar salad: It was just ok. There were small pieces of bacon when I prefer chicken... but it was fresh !

Main course: you can also choose

IMG_20121128_144641

IMG_20121128_144659

Thai chicken curry: It was not bad ! I was already quite full when it arrives...

Dessert: The menu doesn't include any dessert. But I still wanted to try one ! Just FYI, they have afternoon tea too.

IMG_20121128_151600

Vanilla pudding: it was good ! they even put almonds on it. The only thing is the berries.. please defroze them before serving...

On the overall, it's not an amazing restaurant. But the place is pleasant and the food abundant and cheap.

If you leave near by, you can try it !

{Paris} Brunch at Oh mon cake !

Ah Paris finally !! we were looking for a nice brunch for Sunday. We decided for Oh mon cake ! because of their cakes pictures hehe ! It looked really tasty.

20121209_115849

The interior is very small and cute

IMG_20121209_115534

Some appertizers: yummy pains au chocolat et croissants: very crispy and fat youhou !

IMG_20121209_115954

In the brunch you choose, you have a free fresh juice (ours were strawberry & orange). tea & coffee are free. I took a Chai latte

IMG_20121209_120012

Yoghurt and fresh fruits: that one wasn't good at all. All the brunch includes that. I just think it's just a fill up ...

IMG_20121209_120919

Main: Bagels and fried fruits snacks: It was fine. You can choose either eggs or bagels.

IMG_20121210_085605

Cakes: the biggest dissappointment !!! We went there for the tasty cakes. They looked really good but actually they are quite plain.

The brunch we chose was the big brunch 26€. I think it's quite expensive for what you get. Nothing amazing. But quite a lot of people left some good comments about it. Just have a try !
